Likikiri Collective has been maintaining an online platform called South Sudanese Folktales to host a growing collection of folktales documented in different languages from around the country. The collection process was initiated through two avenues: Na’eesh Mabadh (Living Together), a multi-media project initiated in 2015 and a class at the University of Juba. Na’eesh Mabadh was a year-long project that gathered and documented folktales from three areas in South Sudan (Renk, Pibor, and Bentiu (which moved to PoC in Juba due to insecurity in Bentiu) and transformed these folktales into radio dramas that were broadcast around the country.

The idea for the website emerged from the Na’eesh Mabadh project, and Likikiri built and is maintaining the online platform where the audio, video and textual versions of these folktales are now hosted.
